Something the Lord has really been showing me through the process of getting ready for this trip is that in order for Him to be able to use me, I need to be a clean vessel. Mrs. Peterson used a great example of abiding in Christ. We are the hose and Christ is the water. The hose is useless unless it's plugged in and turned on. If the hose is clogged or has kinks everywhere in it, the water can't flow through like it should. It's the same way with us. If we aren't plugged in to Christ and we aren't clean before him, we are useless just like that clogged, kinked hose. To "turn on" the water we must rest in God and allow the Holy Spirit to do for us what we can't. He will give me the energy I need and the joy & love I feel like I so often lack.
It's amazing to me that no matter how hard (or hot for that matter) it gets, there's no greater joy that you can experience than when you are serving God. Sometimes I feel useless because I can't speak the language very well or always understand the kids, but I know that God is so much greater than my weakness. He fills in the gaps and can do a work in the children's heart to bring them to him. Praise the Lord for all he has already done through and in us!
